Effect/Function: Embossed Effect

Description:

An embossed picture is unusual and rare, as this photographic technique is mainly used by professional or art photographers in personal exhibitions or albums. An embossed picture gives the feeling of being a cold, metallic, solemn, monumental work of art (when a large quantity of gray is used), or looks like an expensive, stylish, fancy, official, seal embossed sheet of paper (when using higher contrast and less gray).

The other feature of the “Embossed” button is a double edge effect, like when shooting a subject from two slightly different angles, giving the picture a 3D appearance. The subject of such a photo has to have as few details as possible – portraits are ideal for the 3D effect.

By pressing the “Embossed” button Easy Photo Effects replaces pixels with highlights, shadows or a gray color of depending their boundaries. What you get is a picture that looks like embossed paper or metal. Use the brightness button and settings to change the grayness of the image or use Sepia to give it a bit of color. You can get special effects by changing the settings to ignore a certain color.

Possible uses for embossed pictures: as a background for websites, as a negative for metal laser engraving for unusual and amazingly original portraits and landscapes, or simply as pictures with a bas-relief appearance.

Settings:

- Emboss strength: Increase for thicker lines. A low emboss strength gives better results.
- Ignore value: Default is nothing, by selecting a color the algorithm will ignore that color in each pixel resulting in a 3D like image.
