Easy Photo Effects is probably the most easy to use photo editor you will ever find. With just a click on a button you can convert your images into black & white artworks, give them a vintage sepia look or apply a cool movie effect. Each effect can be tweaked and you can combine different effects for an unique look. Easy Photo Effects is freeware which means you can use it for free and make as much copies of the program as you want to give to your friends and family members.
Effect/Function: Encrypt/Decrypt Function
Since Version 3.0 Easy Photo Effects features an image encryption function which allows you to encrypt personal images.
There are numerous cases in which you may feel the need to "hide" and encrypt images; for instance if you want to email an image and be certain nobody but the intended recipient can view it. Just tell the receiver the decryption password using another method such as in a phone conversation or through classic post mail.
Some examples of images that you may want to encrypt before transporting to another computer:
- scanned contracts
- personal photos like that embarrassing party shot
- insurance pictures of your belongings
- plans for world domination
- the answer of a contest or as part of a game
- and there are many other perfect valid reasons to encrypt photos
Why use images instead of packing your pictures in a password protected zip archive? Some email providers might block compressed archives for security reasons, images are almost always allowed. You can even post them on a website or forum since they will be treated like any other image. There are also many, brute force and dictionary based, password crackers available for the current popular protected archives.
When saving encrypted pictures with the program use PNG or BMP as a file format because these are lossless formats so they won't lose any information necessary for an accurate decryption. PNG is preferred since it creates smaller size images then BMP.
To anyone, not familiar with Easy Photo Effect's encryption function, the images will look like random colored noise with no recognizable pattern. I believe that the encryption method is strong but you have to be aware that every encryption will be cracked eventually. It might take years or even decades but it will be cracked. This is true for any other encryption method, "if we can make it, we can break it". So far I have not seen any proof that someone is able to correctly retrieve an encrypted image created with this program without the correct password.
Make sure that you always keep the original image somewhere incase you forget the password(s). Use at your own risk! To provide additional security you can even encrypt an already encrypted image with another password.
- Encryption Password: Enter the password which you want to use to encrypt or decrypt an image. Longer passwords are better.

You can decrypt the picture below using the password "MAKEitSO!" without the quotation marks.
